Kern County is world-renowned for its whitewater. U.S. Olympians trained here prior to the Sydney Games, and the world visited in the summer of 2003 as the Wildwater World Cups left Europe for only the second time ever. The Wild and Scenic Kern River, head watered at majestic Mt. Whitney, is one of the fastest and most exciting rivers anywhere with 50 miles of spectacular rapids.
